Former Attorney General Godfred Dame Reports to CID Over Misconduct Allegations

Former Attorney General and Minister for Justice, Godfred Yeboah Dame, has appeared before the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) to assist with investigations following a formal petition filed against him by Richard Jakpa, Director of Special Operations at the National Security Secretariat.
The petition, which stems from issues related to the ambulance procurement case involving Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, accuses Mr. Dame of alleged misconduct and attempted fabrication of evidence.
Speaking to journalists in Accra on Monday, October 6, 2025, lawyer Kobby Amoah, who was at the CID to support Mr. Dame, emphasized that the former Attorney General remains innocent until proven guilty.
“We are here to support the former Attorney General, Godfred Dame. There is a presumption of innocence, so anyone who has been accused of wrongdoing remains innocent unless proven guilty,” he said.
He added that the legal team is confident in Mr. Dame’s integrity and expressed trust in the judicial process.
“I think we are all aware why he’s here — about certain allegations that have been made against him flowing from the Ato Forson trial. We are here to support him and to prove his innocence. So far, everything has followed the regular legal process,” Mr. Amoah stated.
The CID has yet to issue an official statement on the ongoing investigation.
