Black Stars Crush Central African Republic 5-0 to Virtually Seal World Cup Spot

The Black Stars of Ghana have all but secured qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup after a dominant 5-0 victory over the Central African Republic in Morocco.
Goals from Mohammed Salisu (20’), Thomas Partey (52’), Alexander Djiku (69’), Jordan Ayew (71’), and Kamaldeen Sulemana (87’) powered Ghana to a statement win that leaves them on the brink of a return to football’s biggest stage.
With the result, Ghana tops Group I with 22 points after nine matches—three points clear of Madagascar, who sit second with 19 points.
The Black Stars now need only a draw against Comoros in their final group game on Sunday to officially confirm qualification. Even in the unlikely event of a loss, Ghana would only be overtaken if there were a nine-goal swing in goal difference—a highly improbable scenario.
The comprehensive victory also marks Ghana’s biggest win in the qualifying campaign, underlining the team’s resurgence under coach Otto Addo and boosting morale ahead of the decisive final fixture.
