Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson has led the committee that investigated the August 6 helicopter crash to present its report and findings to President John Mahama.
The Acting Minister for Defence made the presentation during a meeting of the National Security Council.
A helicopter carrying eight people, consisting of five passengers and three crew members, crashed into a forested mountainside in the Ashanti Region on August 6, 2025. All those on boar perished.
The victims included the Minister for Defence and the Minister for Environment, Science, and Technology, along with other government and military officials. The helicopter was en route to a mining town for an event related to combating illegal mining.
Ghana observed three days of national mourning, and a state funeral was held for those who died. An investigation was launched, and flight recorders were recovered. The investigation findings were presented to the National Security Council in November 2025.
The submitted report details the causes of the incident and recommendations to prevent future occurrences.
