Manhyia Palace has issued a statement distancing itself from the dispute over Daddy Lumba’s funeral arrangements and burial plans.
The statement clarification was made due to media reports and social media discussions linking the Palace to the preparations for the funeral. The Palace warned that such reports are misleading and could cause confusion among the public.
Highly celebrated Ghanaian highlife musician, Daddy Lumba also known by his birth name, Charles Kwadwo Fosu, passed away in July 2025, prompting national mourning.
A dispute within his family has ensued over control of funeral plans, including disagreements over the appointed funeral date (widely reported as 13 December 2025) and who should oversee rites.
Members of his immediate family have filed legal action to block the scheduled funeral, alleging unauthorized decisions, lack of consultation, and concerns over autopsy and financial matters tied to funeral arrangements.
The Palace had previously intervened in the dispute between family factions and dissolved an earlier funeral committee, but its role has now been explicitly decoupled from any ongoing organizational decisions.
