Deputy Presidential Spokesperson Urges NDC Members to Trust Mahama’s Appointments

Deputy Presidential Spokesperson Shamima Muslim has urged members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to exercise patience and trust President John Dramani Mahama’s appointment decisions amid growing concerns within the party.
Concerns Over Appointments
Some NDC members have expressed dissatisfaction, arguing that competent individuals within the party are being overlooked for key government positions. The appointment of a Commissioner General of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) with ties to the opposition has particularly sparked debate.
Shamima Muslim’s Response
Speaking on the Citi Breakfast Show on Thursday, February 27, Shamima Muslim acknowledged these concerns but assured party members that Mahama remains deeply connected to the grassroots and understands the party’s needs.
“There is an acknowledgment of those sentiments. There will never be a disrespect to the sentiments. But there is also an openness in allowing people to express themselves so we can explain some of the reasons where required.”
She emphasized Mahama’s extensive experience in governance, reminding members that he rose from an assemblyman to the presidency, making him well aware of party dynamics.
“President John Dramani Mahama has done more work than anybody in his party, consistently over the period. During the electioneering period, he moved around more than anyone… so if there is anyone who truly understands grassroots politics, it is him.”
She urged party members to trust the process, noting that Mahama’s full vision will unfold in due time.
