Interior Minister to Address Parliament on Raid at Former BoG Governor’s Residence

Accra, Ghana – March 22, 2025 – The Minister for the Interior, Muntaka Mubarak, is set to appear before Parliament to provide details regarding the search warrant executed at the residence of former Bank of Ghana Governor, Dr. Ernest Addison.

The move follows mounting public concerns and demands for accountability after a team of heavily armed National Security operatives raided Dr. Addison’s Roman Ridge home on March 19, 2025.

Concerns Over Due Process

During the operation, officers reportedly disabled CCTV cameras and ransacked the property, raising serious questions about due process and the legality of the exercise.

Lawmakers, particularly from the Minority in Parliament, have demanded full disclosure regarding:

  • The legal basis of the search warrant
  • The allegations that led to the raid
  • The role of National Security operatives in the exercise

Call for Government Accountability

Several MPs have insisted that Parliament must hold the government accountable for the actions of security agencies, particularly regarding potential abuse of power and intimidation.

The Interior Minister is expected to clarify the circumstances surrounding the operation, as well as the government’s stance on ensuring that law enforcement activities comply with constitutional and human rights standards.

As the debate unfolds, Ghanaians await answers on whether the operation was conducted within the ambit of the law or if it represents a case of political overreach.
