Mahama Defends ‘Operation Recover All Loot’ Initiative, Dismisses Witch-Hunt Claims

Accra, March 26, 2025 – Former President John Dramani Mahama has reaffirmed that the Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL) initiative is aimed at fighting corruption and ensuring accountability, not politically targeting individuals.

Speaking during a courtesy call on the Ghana Bar Association, Mahama emphasized that ORAL provides a structured platform for whistleblowers to report corruption cases, ensuring thorough investigations before legal action is taken.

ORAL: A Structured Anti-Corruption Mechanism

✔️ Mahama highlighted corruption as a major concern for Ghanaians, ranking among the top five issues in the last election campaign.
✔️ The ORAL initiative includes a hotline for whistleblowers, which has already received over 2,000 calls, some of which have been forwarded to the Attorney General for further action.
✔️ He assured that all reports undergo due diligence, dismissing claims of politically motivated persecution.

No Room for Political Witch-Hunts

❌ Addressing concerns from critics, Mahama clarified that ORAL is not a tool for witch-hunting but a critical mechanism to enhance Ghana’s anti-corruption framework.

👉 “This is not an instrument for political persecution. It is a vital mechanism to support the fight against corruption,” Mahama asserted.

The initiative is expected to bolster transparency and accountability in governance as it continues to gather public attention.
