Accra, April 7, 2025 – The Deputy Director of Operations at the Presidency, Mustapha Gbande, has justified recent National Security raids at the residences of former government officials, emphasizing that such operations are intelligence-driven and not conducted arbitrarily.
Speaking on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem, Mustapha stated that National Security operatives do not invade private homes without just cause, particularly under the current administration.
Raid on Supt. Yakubu Issahaku’s Residence
🚨 One of the high-profile raids involved the private residence of Superintendent Yakubu Issahaku, the Aide-de-Camp (ADC) to former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
🔹 The incident occurred on Saturday at Sapeiman, with reports indicating that around 30 masked and heavily armed military personnel stormed the property, forcefully ransacking the house.
🔹 Damages reported include:
✔️ Broken security doors
✔️ Disconnected CCTV surveillance
✔️ Seized internet routers, switches, and the home’s hard disk
According to Issahaku, he first learned of the raid through a WhatsApp message from a friend at 6:14 p.m., detailing the invasion and destruction of property.
National Security’s Justification
🗣️ Mustapha Gbande defended the raids, suggesting they were likely based on credible intelligence.
🔹 “I may not have all the details because of job description and capacity, but I do know that National Security will not invade anybody’s premise without a cause. At least, I can speak for this crop of operatives,” he asserted.
🔹 He explained that if intelligence suggests that stolen or wanted goods are being harbored at a particular location, a search operation is justified.
More Arrests Expected
Despite mounting concerns about these operations, Mustapha indicated that the crackdown is far from over, stating that more arrests are anticipated in the coming days.
🔎 Key Questions:
✅ Were proper legal procedures followed before the raids?
✅ What specific intelligence led to the operation at Issahaku’s residence?
✅ Will former officials take legal action against National Security for alleged unlawful invasions?
