VOLO, Volta Region – April 2025 — The Acting Paramount Chief of the Volo Traditional Area, Regent Bennett Koblah Appleh, has issued a heartfelt appeal for urgent developmental support for the community, citing the lack of critical social amenities as a major challenge.
Speaking at the 2025 edition of the Volo Tugbedzo Festival, themed “Tugbedzoza – A Catalyst for Accelerated Development: Harnessing the Economic Potentials of Volo”, the regent called on government agencies, NGOs, and kind-hearted individuals to assist in uplifting the area.
Regent Appleh acknowledged that while the community has made notable progress in education, health, agriculture, peace, and security, much of it was achieved through local resource mobilization. However, he warned that without external support, sustaining and scaling up these gains would be difficult.
“We have done what we can, but we need broader support to meet our people’s basic needs and unlock Volo’s full potential,” he emphasized.
Government Assures of Support
Responding to the chief’s call, Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, the Member of Parliament for North Tongu and Minister for Foreign Affairs, reiterated the government’s commitment to addressing the concerns raised.
He praised the community’s resilience and proactive spirit and urged them to remain hopeful.
“As your MP and a member of government, I want to assure you that efforts are ongoing to bring real improvements to your lives,” Ablakwa stated, drawing applause from the crowd.
The Tugbedzo Festival, a key cultural event in the Volo Traditional Area, continues to serve as a unifying platform for advocacy and development, drawing attention to the community’s pressing needs while celebrating its rich heritage.
