ACCRA, Ghana – April 29, 2025 — Charles Cromwell Nanabanyin Onuawonto Bissue, former Secretary to the Inter-Ministerial Committee on Illegal Mining (IMCIM), has issued a strong rebuttal to a writ filed by the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) seeking his prosecution over alleged corruption and abuse of office.
In a public statement released on Tuesday, Bissue acknowledged the legal action, which stems from the controversial 2019 “Galamsey Fraud” documentary by Tiger Eye P.I. but categorically denied any wrongdoing.
“I have always acted in full compliance with both the legal and ethical obligations of the office I held and the laws of the Republic of Ghana,” he stated. “Any suggestion of misconduct is baseless and will be vigorously challenged through due process.”
Bissue also called on the OSP to ensure full transparency by presenting an unedited and unaltered version of the undercover investigative video being used as key evidence in the case.
The former official emphasized the timing of the prosecution, pointing out that it is being pursued under a new administration, separate from the government in which he served. He expressed hope for a fair and unbiased trial, stressing that both parties must be allowed a fair chance to present their case.
“I urge the public to respect the legal process and refrain from premature judgments. The people of Ghana deserve transparency, accountability, and a resolution rooted in the rule of law,” Bissue urged.
He concluded by reaffirming his full cooperation with the legal process and expressed confidence in the impartiality of Ghana’s judiciary.
