Ex-NSB boss Adu-Boahen remanded over alleged witness interference in ongoing trial

The former Director of the National Signals Bureau (NSB), Kwabena Adu-Boahen, has been remanded into prison custody for seven days by a High Court in Accra following a hearing held on Friday, May 2, 2025.

The ruling came after Attorney General Dr. Dominic Ayine requested the remand, citing intelligence that suggested Adu-Boahen had attempted to interfere with a key prosecution witness in his ongoing alleged stealing case.

While making the case for remand, Dr. Ayine also hinted at broader legal concerns, disclosing that separate investigations into Adu-Boahen’s activities are underway at Ghana Water Limited. This suggests that the embattled former NSB boss may face further legal action in the near future.

However, the defence counsel, Samuel Atta Akyea, strongly rejected the allegations, casting doubt on the credibility of the intelligence presented and arguing that his client lacked the means or motive to influence the witness.

The presiding judge deferred an immediate ruling to review the intelligence materials in-camera. Following a review of the preliminary submissions, the court ruled that Adu-Boahen be held in custody for one week while further assessments are conducted.

He is expected to reappear in court on Friday, May 9, 2025.
