Sammy Gyamfi Apologizes Over Cash Gift to Nana Agradaa

Accra, May 11, 2025 – Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod), Sammy Gyamfi, has issued a public apology after facing intense public criticism over a cash donation made to former fetish priestess-turned-evangelist Patricia Oduro Koranteng, popularly known as Nana Agradaa.

The backlash followed the emergence of a viral video showing Mr. Gyamfi handing over dollars to Nana Agradaa during a public event, a gesture many viewed as inappropriate given her controversial past. Critics, including political supporters, expressed disappointment over the association.

In a Facebook post on Sunday, Mr. Gyamfi described the gesture as a “private act of kindness” and admitted he had not foreseen the donation becoming public. He expressed regret, stating, “To all such comrades, I am sincerely sorry for this unfortunate act of indiscretion.”

He emphasized that the act was not politically motivated, but consistent with his personal values of helping others. “I thought I was doing this act of kindness in private,” he explained, calling the situation “unfortunate and regrettable.”

Despite the incident, Mr. Gyamfi reaffirmed his commitment to public service and his current role, stating, “My view of public office as a privilege to serve society, solve problems, and help others has not changed.”

He expressed gratitude to those who reached out with counsel and support and concluded by wishing all mothers a happy Mother’s Day.
