
Dominase, Gomoa East District – May 21, 2025 — A police raid targeting a suspected drug trafficking ring at Dominase in the Gomoa East District of the Central Region has turned deadly, leaving one civilian dead and three police officers injured following a violent confrontation.
The operation, led by the Ghana Police Service, aimed to dismantle an alleged network of illicit drug peddlers operating in the community. However, the situation escalated into a clash when officers met fierce resistance from the suspects.
Casualties Reported
According to preliminary reports, the deceased — believed to be affiliated with the drug peddlers — sustained fatal gunshot wounds during the exchange. The identity of the civilian has not yet been disclosed.

Three officers also sustained various degrees of injury and are currently undergoing treatment at an undisclosed medical facility. Police sources have described their conditions as non-life-threatening.

Increased Security Presence
In the wake of the confrontation, security has been tightened in and around Dominase, with more officers deployed to prevent any retaliatory actions or unrest. The area remains tense, with many residents expressing concern over the rising threat of drug-related violence in the district.
Official Police Response Pending
The Ghana Police Service has yet to issue a comprehensive statement on the incident. However, investigations have been launched to determine the circumstances leading to the deadly confrontation and to identify the individuals involved in the drug trafficking ring.
This marks the latest in a series of anti-narcotics operations being rolled out across the country as authorities step up efforts to clamp down on the illegal drug trade and its associated crimes.
