Interpol Declares Former Ghana Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta “Wanted” Over Alleged Corruption Scandals

Interpol has officially listed Ken Ofori-Atta, Ghana’s former Minister for Finance, as “Wanted”, intensifying legal efforts to bring him before authorities over a string of high-profile corruption investigations.

This global alert follows a notice issued by Ghana’s Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP), which re-declared Ofori-Atta as wanted after he failed to appear for a scheduled interrogation on June 2, 2025.

At a press conference on the same day, the Special Prosecutor confirmed that steps had been taken to initiate an Interpol Red Notice, paving the way for extradition proceedings to return Ofori-Atta to Ghana for questioning and possible prosecution.

  1. Petroleum and Minerals Revenue Assurance
    – Deals involving Strategic Mobilisation Ghana Limited and the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA).
  2. Electricity Company Contract Termination
