Asiedu Nketiah Sworn In as Board Chairman of Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority

Accra, June 25, 2025 — Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, has officially been sworn in as Board Chairman of the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA).

The swearing-in ceremony, held on Wednesday, June 25, marks a strategic step in strengthening the governance and oversight framework of one of Ghana’s most vital state-owned enterprises.

Also sworn in was Professor Ransford Gyampo, the Acting CEO of the Ghana Shippers Authority, who assumes his role as a member of the newly constituted GPHA board.

Mandate of the New Board

The new GPHA board is tasked with providing strategic leadership, refining policy direction, and overseeing the expansion and modernization of Ghana’s port infrastructure—particularly at Tema and Takoradi Ports, which are key to the country’s maritime trade.

The appointments are aligned with the government’s broader agenda to enhance operational efficiency, attract international investment, and position Ghana as a leading shipping and logistics hub in West Africa.

The Ministry of Transport, under which GPHA operates, expressed confidence in the leadership capabilities of the new board to steer the authority through its next phase of growth and competitiveness.
