Prof. Gyampo Dismisses Recruitment and Travel Allegations as Politically Motivated

The Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Shippers’ Authority, Professor Ransford Gyampo, has publicly dismissed recent social media allegations accusing him of unauthorised staff recruitment and extravagant international travel, describing them as false, politically motivated, and part of a smear campaign to silence his outspoken views on governance.

In a detailed statement titled “Responding to Baseless Allegations Against Me”, Prof. Gyampo said the accusations—widely circulated on social media and repeated on some radio stations—are not only untrue but also aimed at damaging his reputation due to his consistent critique of bad governance.

“Lies become truth in the psyche of many people in Ghana when they aren’t corrected,” he said. “So, I plead that I be allowed to respond… merely as a way to set the records straight.”

No Role in Recruitment

Responding to claims that he had overseen the recruitment of 28 women and two men, Prof. Gyampo clarified that he does not handle recruitment at the Authority. He explained that hiring is conducted by an independent private agency that follows a rigorous and professional selection process.

Travel Claims Refuted

On the matter of international trips, Prof. Gyampo noted that while his office requires occasional foreign engagements, he has only participated in four trips out of 38 official opportunities, each of which was approved by the Chief of Staff.

“I have never travelled on First Class or Business Class. I remain the only CEO in Ghana who travels on an economy ticket,” he emphasized.

He added that evidence—including boarding passes and travel records—is available to verify his claims.

Legal Action Underway

Prof. Gyampo disclosed that legal proceedings are being initiated against those responsible for what he called false and defamatory content.

“My lawyers—and even other lawyers I don’t know—have taken over the matter and will deal with the individuals behind the baseless allegations this week,” he stated.

Reaffirming Commitment to Public Service

In his concluding remarks, Prof. Gyampo reaffirmed his dedication to championing the interests of shippers and reiterated his resolve to continue speaking boldly on national issues.

“Baseless allegations have never been enough to silence me. I will always speak my mind on every national issue while focusing on my core job.”

The full statement serves not only as a response to his critics but also as a declaration of his commitment to accountability, integrity, and public trust in his role as a public servant.
