The government has announced the complete funeral arrangements for the victims of the August 6 helicopter crash in Adansi Akrufuom, confirming that the ceremony will take place on Friday, August 15, 2025, with full military honours led by the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF).
Speaking at a press conference on Thursday, August 14, Deputy Chief of Staff Stan Dogbe outlined that the funeral will be held in three parts — Bible and Qur’an recitals, the main service, and the burial. The pre-burial programme will begin at 7:30 a.m. and end at 9:00 a.m., ahead of the arrival of Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia at 8:50 a.m. and President John Dramani Mahama at 9:00 a.m. to commence the state service.
The three-hour ceremony will include the reading of biographies of all eight crash victims, as well as tributes from widows, children, government officials, and institutional representatives.
After the service, the remains of six victims will be conveyed to the military cemetery at Tse Addo for interment, with burial rites jointly conducted by the GAF and the respective churches of the deceased.
The helicopter crash claimed eight lives. Two victims — Alhaji Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed and Alhaji Muniru Mohammed Limuna — were buried on Sunday, August 10, in line with Islamic customs. Those to be buried on August 15 include Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, Dr. Samuel Sarpong, Mr. Samuel Aboagye, Squadron Leader Peter Baafemi Anala, Flying Officer Manaen Twum Ampadu, and Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah.
Mr. Dogbe urged the public to arrive early and comply with security arrangements for the solemn occasion.
