
Tensions have flared in Kukurantumi, a town in the Abuakwa North Municipality of the Eastern Region, following the alleged death of a suspect while in police custody.
The incident triggered anger among residents, leading to chaotic scenes on Sunday as irate youth stormed the Kukurantumi Police Station and set the facility ablaze.


Reports indicate that the youth accused the police of foul play in the suspect’s death and demanded immediate answers regarding the circumstances that led to the tragedy. The violent protest has since left the community in shock, with fears of further escalation if clarity is not provided.
Authorities are yet to officially respond to the development, while security has been reinforced in the area to prevent further disturbances.
