Ghana’s men’s 4x100m relay team narrowly missed out on a historic medal, finishing fourth in the final at the 2025 World Athletics Championships in Tokyo.
The quartet of Ibrahim Fuseini, Benjamin Azamati, Joseph Paul Amoah, and Abdul-Rasheed Saminu ran an impressive 37.93 seconds, but were edged out of the medals by The Netherlands, who set a new national record of 37.81s to clinch bronze.
The United States, led by Christian Coleman, Kenneth Bednarek, Courtney Lindsey, and Noah Lyles, stormed to gold in a world-leading 37.29s. Canada, anchored by Olympic champion Andre De Grasse, secured silver in 37.55s, their season’s best.

Germany (38.29s), Japan (38.35s), and France (38.58s) followed, while Australia failed to finish the race.
In other events, Ghana’s Rose Yeboah finished 15th in the Women’s High Jump final, after three failed attempts at the 1.93m mark.
Although just missing the podium, Ghana’s performance in the men’s relay marks one of the nation’s strongest showings on the global stage, underlining the growing strength of its sprinting program.
