Newly Posted Teachers Stage Protest Over 13-Month Salary Arrears

The Coalition of Unpaid Newly Posted Teachers, made up of graduates from Colleges of Education and universities, staged a demonstration in Accra on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, to demand the release of their long-overdue salary arrears.

According to the coalition, some members have been working for up to 13 months without pay, despite being officially posted and actively teaching across the country.

The protest began at the Obra Spot near Kwame Nkrumah Circle, with the teachers marching through key areas, including the Jubilee House and the Ministry of Education, before converging at the Ministry of Finance. Their demands include the urgent payment of outstanding salaries and the issuance of staff ID cards required to process their wages.

Leaders of the group condemned the situation as deeply unfair and demoralising, insisting that they will sustain their protest until the government takes concrete steps to address their grievances.
