Police Deny Reports of Missing Narcotics in Sekesua Case

The Ghana Police Service has dismissed circulating media reports claiming that narcotic exhibits seized in Sekesua have gone missing.

According to the Police, all 36 sacks of substances suspected to be narcotics, intercepted on September 30, 2025, along the Sekesua road, are intact and securely kept at the Eastern Regional Command.

Details of the Case

The case involves a Kia Truck (ER-760-23), which was intercepted while transporting bags of dried substances concealed under sawdust. The truck was impounded at the Sekesua Police Station, but both the driver and his mate escaped custody and remain at large.

Contrary to rumours that the seized sacks had “turned into sawdust” or gone missing, the Police clarified:

“The impounded truck as well as the 36 sacks of substances suspected to be narcotics have been retained at the Eastern Regional Command.”

Investigations Underway

The Police Professional Standards Bureau (PPSB) has launched investigations into the conduct of officers involved in the case. Meanwhile, efforts are ongoing to re-arrest the suspects who fled custody.

The Police further assured the public of their commitment to transparency and accountability, particularly in cases involving narcotics, and pledged to provide accurate updates as the investigation progresses.
