Ghana’s national amputee football team, the Black Challenge, will meet Colombia, Iraq and Angola in Group D at the 2026 World Amputee Football Federation (WAFF) World Cup.
The group-stage draw took place on Saturday, September 26, 2026, ahead of the tournament in Mexico.
Ghana face a demanding route through the opening phase as they seek to make an impact at the global competition and build on the country’s growing presence in international amputee football.
The draw has given the Black Challenge’s technical team a clearer understanding of the challenge ahead. It will also allow them to begin detailed preparations based on the strengths and playing styles of their three opponents.
The tournament is expected to attract significant interest from sports enthusiasts across Ghana, with the Black Challenge aiming to produce a strong performance on the world stage.
Administrative and media preparations are also being strengthened ahead of the competition. Broadcaster Theophilus Sampah has been appointed the official Media Officer for the Black Challenge.
The 2026 WAFF World Cup in Mexico is expected to feature some of the leading amputee football teams from around the world, bringing them together in a tournament focused on talent, resilience and sportsmanship.
The draw marks the next stage in Ghana’s preparations for the competition, with the national team now aware of the opponents standing between them and progress from Group D.
