Manchester City manager Enzo Maresca says the club will assess Ghana forward Antoine Semenyo after he raised injury concerns during their 3-2 Premier League win over Ipswich Town.
The Black Stars attacker came on in the 77th minute at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday, replacing Jeremy Doku, but his condition became a concern following a match in which several City players reportedly experienced injury problems.
City secured all three points in a closely contested encounter, but the fitness of Semenyo and fellow forward Erling Haaland emerged as a major talking point after the final whistle.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Maresca expressed hope that both players had avoided serious injuries, acknowledging how much their absence could affect the team.
“Hopefully they [Semenyo and Haaland] are good, but they are big players for us,” he said.
“Same for any team losing their best two players. It’s difficult for everyone, but we’ll see what’s happened and hopefully find a solution.”
The City manager later provided a further update on the players while speaking to the club’s media, saying most had indicated they were feeling fine.
“I asked all of them. Mateo said he was okay, Matheus said he was okay, Erling said he was also okay. Nico, it’s still his back. The only one we need to wait on was Antoine, and we will see,” Maresca said.
The comments suggest that Semenyo’s condition remains uncertain, with the club expected to establish the extent of the problem before determining his availability for upcoming fixtures.
Semenyo has continued to contribute to City’s attacking efforts this season, recording two goals and three assists in nine appearances across all competitions.
His pace, direct running and ability to create opportunities have made him a useful option in the final third, and any spell on the sidelines would be a concern for the club.
For Ghana, the forward’s fitness will also be closely watched as the Black Stars continue to rely on key players competing at the highest level of European football.
For now, City will hope the injury scare proves to be minor. Further assessments should provide a clearer picture of Semenyo’s condition and whether he will be available for the team’s next match.
