Two Nigerian nationals are in police custody over the suspected sexual assault and murder of an 11-year-old girl at Gomoa Buduburam in the Central Region.
The suspects, Kingsley Ozor, 40, an autobody sprayer, and Jeffery Otaigbe, 19, an apprentice, were arrested by the Central East Regional Police Command following investigations into the disappearance and death of the child, identified as Blessing Innocent.
The case came to the attention of the police after the girl’s mother reported her missing to the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) of the Gomoa Buduburam District Police on Monday, October 19, 2026.
She told police that her daughter had been missing since Saturday, October 17.
Preliminary investigations indicated that the girl visited Ozor and Otaigbe, who are neighbours, at about 8:30 a.m. on the day she disappeared.
During interrogation, the two suspects reportedly admitted that the girl had been with them that day.
“In the course of interrogation, the suspects Kingsley Ozor and Jeffery Otaigbe admitted the deceased was with them on the above date,” the police statement said.
The police further alleged that Otaigbe lured the girl into an unfinished building near an estate community, where he sexually abused her before realising that she had become lifeless.
Investigators said Otaigbe subsequently led them to a location where the girl’s body had been concealed beneath some shrubs.
The body was retrieved and conveyed to the morgue of St. Gregory Catholic Hospital.
The police said arrangements were being made for an autopsy at the Police Hospital to help establish the circumstances surrounding the girl’s death.
Both suspects remain in police custody assisting with investigations as authorities work to establish the full details of the incident. The allegations against them have not been proven in court.
