Christmas is getting closer, the streets are buzzing, and plenty is happening across the borough.

- Newham Warm Havens See Higher Demand
With temperatures dropping, Newham’s Warm Havens continue to see increased visits from elders, parents and young adults seeking a warm, safe space.
Warm Havens offer:
- Heating
- Hot drinks
- Free Wi-Fi
- Games
- Social connection
Libraries in Stratford, East Ham, Canning Town, Plaistow and Forest Gate remain the most used by the African community, so expect friendly faces if you visit.
- Winter HAF Programme Nearly Full — Final Spaces Available
The Holiday Activity & Food Programme, which offers free meals and activities to children receiving benefits, is reaching capacity.
Parents are urged to register as soon as possible to secure places for:
- Sports
- Drama
- Cooking workshops
- Creative arts
Perfect for families juggling work, childcare and extra holiday costs.

- More Community Funding Released for Small Groups
Newham has released an additional round of micro-funding to support cultural events, community meals, youth activities and holiday gatherings.
African churches, women’s groups, youth mentors and community choirs are encouraged to apply.

- Ghanaian Community Christmas Service (Various Churches)
Across Newham and East London, Ghanaian Pentecostal, Methodist, Apostolic and SDA churches are hosting early Christmas services and choir rehearsals this week.
Expect powerful music, beautiful colours and lively fellowship.
