Actress Angela Okorie has been granted bail of ₦5 million by a Federal High Court in Abuja in connection with an ongoing case accusing her of cyberbullying and cyberstalking fellow Nollywood actress Mercy Johnson-Okojie.
Justice Emeka Nwite ruled that although the prosecution opposed bail, there wasn’t sufficient evidence to show she would flee if released.
Okorie’s bail conditions mean she must provide one surety in the same bail amount (₦5 million) and the surety must be at least a Level 13 civil servant, submit an affidavit of means, appointment letter, and proof of last promotion.
Both Okorie and the surety must also submit two passport photos to the court registrar.
The case is adjourned until March 23, 2026 for trial. Okorie remains remanded at the Suleja Correctional Centre until all bail conditions are met.
The charges stem from an alleged pattern of harassing and defamatory social media activities targeted at Mercy Johnson-Okojie, including posts on platforms such as Instagram and TikTok, that authorities say could constitute cyberstalking and reputational harm under Nigeria’s Cybercrimes Act.
Okorie has pleaded not guilty to the allegations, and her management has also denied she engaged in cyberbullying or defamation.
