Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has announced on TV3 that an investigation has begun into the tragic death of Ghanaian student Nana Agyei Oduru Ahyia, who died under mysterious circumstances in Latvia in June 2025.
Nana Agyei died in Latvia on June 4th 2025, amid allegations of racial abuse rather than the reported suicide in which he allegedly jumped from his sixth-floor apartment. But shocking details have emerged.
The first-year Electrical Engineering student had reportedly been subjected to racial abuse, his apartment ransacked, and was allegedly poisoned by those pretending to be his friends. Before his death, he was found beaten, with marks on his body, and he vomited blood.
Latvian authorities have reportedly held evidence without proper investigation, raising concerns over justice for the deceased.
This is a heartbreaking reminder that racism and negligence can cost lives. The family and public are demanding #JusticeForNanaAgyei, urging the Ghanaian government to intervene.
