Nigeria’s Super Eagles beat Uganda 3–1 to finish top of Group C stage with 3 wins, accumulating 9 points and advances to the AFCON Round of 16 while Uganda finish bottom of the group.
The win completed a perfect group stage for Nigeria. The Super Eagles qualification was at the expense of Uganda, who, were eliminated from the continental competition.
Paul Onuachu opened the scoring in the 28th minute (making it 1–0). That goal was his first international goal in four years for Nigeria.
Raphael Onyedika scored two goals, both in a quick burst in the second half, helping Nigeria secure the victory.
After Onyedika scored his brace, Uganda scored a late consolation goal through Rogers Mato, after they have been reduced to 10 men (red card for Uganda goalkeeper Salim Magoola).
