Abdul Karim Zito has officially resigned from his role as head coach of Kumasi Asante Kotoko Sporting Club with immediate effect.
The football club confirmed the resignation via its official social media platforms, saying the management accepted his decision and thanked him for his service.
The head coach’s departure comes in the wake of Asante Kotoko’s recent exit from the MTN FA Cup, where they were knocked out in the Round of 16 by Aduana FC — a result that put his position under increased pressure.
His resignation ends the roughly 11-month spell he was in charge of the Kumasi-based giants.
Following Zito’s resignation, Prince Yaw Owusu has been appointed as interim head coach, assisted by Mohammed Hamza Obeng, until a permanent replacement is named.
