Kumasi Asante Kotoko have been eliminated in the Round of 16 of the 2025-26 competition after a goalless draw with Aduana FC at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
The goalless draw went directly to a penalty shootout, where Aduana FC prevailed 4–2 to secure their spot in the quarterfinals and end Kotoko’s defence of their title.
During regular time, Kotoko missed a key chance when Samba O’Neil failed to convert an early penalty, and the Porcupine Warriors were unable to break down Aduana’s defence.
This exit marks a disappointing end to Asante Kotoko’s campaign in Ghana’s premier knockout competition and raises questions over their cup strategy this season.
The defeat also adds pressure on head coach Abdul Karim Zito, with reports suggesting heightened scrutiny on the team’s broader performance across competitions.
