Ghana’s women’s national football team, the Black Queens, have moved up five places in the latest FIFA Women’s World Rankings.
They are now ranked 62nd in the world, up from 67th previously. This rise also sees Ghana placed third in Africa, behind Nigeria and South Africa.
The climb reflects strong recent performances, including a bronze medal at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) and a 7–0 aggregate win over Egypt in qualifiers for the next WAFCON.
Their only recent setback was a friendly defeat to European champions England in December.
This movement is significant for Ghana’s women’s team, highlighting progress on the global stage and strengthening their position in African women’s football.
The team now shifts focus toward preparations for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, scheduled in Morocco.
