Renowned Ghanaian music icon Samini has officially confirmed that his eighth studio album, ORIGIN8A, will be released on February 12, 2026.
The album marks a milestone in the veteran artist’s career, representing a return to his musical roots while showcasing his growth as a pan-African artist.
The album cover features a striking 8-ball, a symbol chosen by Samini to reflect destiny, alignment, wholeness, and the idea of coming full circle in his musical journey.
Speaking about the inspiration behind the project, Samini described ORIGIN8A as deeply personal, emphasizing themes of reflection, reconciliation, and purpose.
“This album represents my journey coming full circle. ORIGIN8A is about remembering where I come from, reconnecting with my roots, and celebrating the people who shaped my story,” Samini said in a statement.
The project also highlights Samini’s role as a mentor within Ghana’s music industry. Several artists whom he helped nurture early in their careers feature on the album, reflecting a spirit of unity and mutual respect among the country’s top musicians.
Confirmed collaborators include Mugeez of R2Bees, Stonebwoy, Kofi Kinaata, and Kaakie.
The album also boasts contributions from international and cross-generational talents such as the Soweto Gospel Choir, M.anifest, and Kuami Eugene, resulting in a rich blend of influences and styles.
Musically, ORIGIN8A spans multiple genres, incorporating highlife, reggae, African dancehall, Afrobeats, Afropop, and Amapiano.
By merging traditional African rhythms with contemporary sounds, Samini demonstrates both his versatility and commitment to preserving the musical heritage that shaped his early career.
Samini explained that the 8-ball motif goes beyond a visual symbol, representing a pivotal moment in his career where artistic experimentation, touring experiences, and personal growth converge into purposeful music.
The album will be distributed globally by Prime Music Partners and will be available across all major digital streaming platforms on the release date.
Akeju, founder of Prime Music Partners, praised Samini for his authenticity and impact on African music, calling ORIGIN8A “not just an album, but a cultural statement.”
ORIGIN8A is expected to further solidify Samini’s legacy as one of the most influential musical voices, bridging generations and cultures while highlighting the collaborative spirit of the country’s vibrant music scene.
