An assembly Member in the Ashanti Region, Dickson Kwabena Osei, has been found dead at his home on Wednesday, January 7, 2026 in what seems to be an apparent suicide.
Kwabena Osei, who was the assembly Member for Apetenyinase Electoral Area in the Asante Akyem North Municipal District, was discovered hanging in his room.
Police have been alerted and are conducting investigations to determine the exact cause of death, with the body taken to the morgue for autopsy.
Community members and leaders are described as shocked and mourning his sudden death.
The Ghana Police Service has not yet released a formal public statement confirming suicide; investigations are ongoing.
Mr. Osei served as an assembly member representing his local area in municipal government.
