President John Dramani Mahama has appointed Mr. Aaron Kanor as Acting Commissioner of the Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) with immediate effect.
The appointment was announced in a statement issued by the GRA on February 23, 2026.
Mr. Kanor is a seasoned Customs professional with over three decades of experience in revenue mobilisation, border security, and trade facilitation within the Authority. The GRA described him as a strategic leader whose career has been defined by integrity, operational excellence, and dedication to public service.
Prior to his appointment, Mr. Kanor served as Officer in Charge of Port Operations, where he supervised key Customs functions, including enforcement of customs laws, revenue collection, and trade facilitation. His leadership is credited with strengthening border security systems and improving compliance within Ghana’s international trade environment.
Over the years, he has held several senior positions nationwide, including Sector Commander at Kotoka International Airport and Wa Collections, as well as Chief Revenue Officer in multiple operational areas. In these roles, he led intelligence-driven operations that curtailed smuggling, uncovered invoice falsification schemes, and disrupted criminal syndicates involved in vehicle identification manipulation — efforts that boosted revenue performance and enhanced national security.
Mr. Kanor has also played a key role in advancing modernization initiatives within the Customs Division, including electronic valuation systems and strategic reforms that improved operational efficiency and reduced cargo clearance turnaround times.
The GRA stated that his appointment is expected to further strengthen Customs administration, improve compliance, and support economic growth through efficient and secure trade systems.
The Board, Management, and staff of the Authority congratulated Mr. Kanor on his appointment and expressed appreciation to the outgoing Commissioner of Customs, Brigadier General Glover Ashong Annan, for his service and leadership.
