President Mahama has reflected on the challenges Ghana faced in the past year, when his administration took office in January 2025. This including economic difficulties, high inflation, and diminished public confidence.
He said that the government has worked hard to achieve economic progress to reverse these conditions through reforms and prudent management, notably reducing inflation from over 23% to a projected single-digit rate.
The Ghana cedi is now enjoying relative stability which improve business confidence. This increase investments and strengthen international credibility, including progress toward exiting the IMF programme.
He noted advancement in infrastructure rehabilitation, electrification expansion to rural areas, and the beginning of broader development efforts.
National unity & nation building was a major focus of the address. He said that Ghanaians must reject divisive politics, urging citizens to rise above partisan divisions and work collectively for Ghana’s progress.
The President outlined priorities which include continued economic growth in 2026, such as improvements in healthcare, education, social services and expanded opportunities for youth and increased renewable energy targets.
He closed the speech with warm message of hope and New Year greetings, expressing optimism for prosperity, peace, and collective national progress in the year ahead. The conclusion of which is a more inclusive and prosperous future for all Ghanaians.
