MP for the Akim Oda constituency, Hon Alexander Akwasi Acquah, has reported the removal of Dr Bawumia’s billboard in the Akyem Oda constituency, calling for transparency and adherence to due process following orders from the MCE, Solomon Kusi Brakoh.
Mr Acquah reported to the police that the billboard featuring Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, the 2028 presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), was removed from the Central Business District without prior notice, raising concerns about transparency and municipal procedures.
According to a post cited on his official Facebook page, Mr. Acquah said the billboard, which had stood in the Central Business District of Akyem Oda for more than five years, was taken down on the orders of the Birim Central Municipal MCE, Hon. Solomon Brako Kusi.
He emphasized that neither he nor other concerned parties were formally informed before the action was taken, raising serious questions about due process and fairness in local governance.
The MP noted that the incident follows a similar removal of a People’s Forum sign under unclear circumstances, suggesting a pattern that has sparked debate among residents and party supporters about consistency and accountability in municipal decisions.

Individuals involved in taking down the Bawumia billboard reportedly indicated that they were acting on instructions from the MCE.
The matter has been officially reported to the Ghana Police Service and is currently under investigation. Mr. Acquah called on municipal authorities to ensure strict adherence to the rule of law, urging that all actions be guided by transparency, fairness, and accountability.
He stressed that no individual, regardless of position, should act outside established procedures, and that political expression must be protected.
As of now, the Municipal Chief Executive has not publicly responded to the allegations.
Residents and political supporters in Akyem Oda are closely monitoring developments, emphasizing that accountability and equal treatment in political matters are essential for public trust.

The removal of the billboard has ignited debate across social media and within the community, with many observers noting that such actions have broader implications for democratic practice and confidence in local leadership.
Residents are calling for clarity on how such decisions are made and assurances that political processes are conducted transparently.
The outcome of the police investigation will not only address immediate concerns over the billboard removal but will also serve as a measure of the municipality’s commitment to justice, transparency, and respect for the rule of law.
