MTN MoMo@15: MML educates customers on new MyMomo App with exciting new features

As part of MTN MoMo@15 celebration, Mobile Money Limited (MTN MoMo), has taken the opportunity to educate its customers on its latest innovation—the MyMomo App.

The app, which can be downloaded from Google Play Store, App Store (iOS) and Huawei Store, is designed to make mobile money transactions faster, more secure, and more convenient for users.

Speaking during an a live interview on MTN’s Facebook, YouTube and LinkedIn pages, dubbed MoMo@15 Live Session, Herman Odame, Head of APIs and New Business at MTN MoMo, said the MyMoMo App allows users to perform transactions seamlessly across multiple platforms, offering a more streamlined experience compared to the popular *170# USSD code and the previous MoMo app.

“The *170# code is still effective, but the MyMomo App provides users with a much faster and more convenient option for completing transactions,” Odame said.

He added that one of the key upgrades in the new app is the incorporation of biometric authentication, including facial and fingerprint recognition, which significantly enhances the security of transactions compared to the old app.

Facial and fingerprint authentication, he said, also saves the user from having to press keys just to access the app, and it also makes it difficult for anyone else with a different fingerprint and facial features to access another users app and wallet.

According to him, the new MyMoMo App also has a QR Code, which users can scan and make payments even faster.

Another exciting feature in the new App is one that allows users to immediately generate a PDF documents of transaction status and share with online vendors upon request.

The new MyMoMo App also stores statements for 90 days in the app, and the user can easily print out that statement whenever they need it for a purpose.

Herman Odame also explained that the updated version of the app offers greater accessibility and simplifies tasks such as paying bills, making it easier and faster for users.

As part of the educational outreach, MTN is encouraging its customers and the general public to download the MyMomo App from the various app stores and experience the enhanced features first hand.

Herman Odame assured customers that the new MyMoMo App is built on MTN’s secure authentications and encryptions and that makes it very safe from the technical point of view, but it is important that customers kept their PIN private to prevent anyone from having access into their wallet.

“The old app is gone – uninstall it and download MyMoMo,” Odame stated.

The focus of MTN’s customer education efforts is to ensure that all Ghanaians can easily navigate and utilise the new platform, thereby enhancing their overall mobile money experience.
