A tragic accident occurred early Monday, October 14, 2024, when a VIP bus traveling from Kumasi to Enchi in Ghana’s Western North Region veered off the road near Kwapia, close to Obuasi, and plunged into a ditch. The crash claimed the lives of thirteen people, including seven males, five females, and a child, according to police sources.

Reports indicate that all but one of the victims died instantly at the scene. The bus driver, identified as Osei Adu, was rushed to the hospital but sadly passed away shortly after arrival. The accident has devastated the local community, as families mourn the sudden loss of their loved ones.
Eyewitnesses suggest the bus, bearing registration number ER 2445-11, may have been overloaded after picking up several stranded passengers from another bus that had broken down along the route. This could have contributed to the tragic outcome.
