
Accra, Ghana – March 23, 2025 – Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson has strongly refuted allegations that he approved a $1.7 million single-source procurement contract, dismissing the claims as false and misleading.
In a Facebook post on Saturday, March 22, Dr. Forson described the reports as baseless and urged the public to disregard them, reaffirming his commitment to transparency and responsible economic governance.
No Procurement Approval Since Assumption of Office
Dr. Forson categorically stated that since taking office, he has not authorized any procurement contracts.
“This claim is completely false and should be disregarded. Let me state clearly and categorically: I have not approved any procurements since I took office as Minister. My focus remains on ensuring transparency, accountability, and responsible economic management in the best interest of Ghana,” he emphasized.
Public Procurement Authority (PPA) Weighs In
The Public Procurement Authority (PPA) has also issued a statement clarifying that it has not approved any such contract, further discrediting the allegations.
Dr. Forson reassured Ghanaians of his commitment to upholding ethical standards in managing the country’s economy, adding that his priority remains fiscal responsibility and due process in all financial transactions.
