Energy Minister John Jinapor Inspects Uncleared ECG Containers at Tema Harbour
Tema, January 24, 2025 – The Minister of Energy, Hon. John Abdulai Jinapor, has undertaken an inspection tour of Tema Harbour to assess approximately 2,500 uncleared containers procured by the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG).

A Call for Accountability
During the tour, Hon. Jinapor expressed concern over the financial burden caused by the delays, describing the situation as unacceptable. He emphasized the Ministry’s commitment to addressing inefficiencies in the energy sector and ensuring the prudent use of public resources.
“This is a clear lapse in resource management, and we must take immediate action to prevent further financial losses,” Hon. Jinapor stated.
Planned Interventions
The Minister pledged to work towards:
- Clearing the Containers: Immediate efforts to retrieve the materials and mitigate further financial losses.
- Improved Coordination: Strengthening inter-agency collaboration to avoid similar issues in the future.
- Operational Efficiency: Ensuring public resources are managed effectively to support Ghana’s developmental goals.
Hon. Jinapor also assured the public of the government’s determination to hold stakeholders accountable and implement measures to enhance transparency and efficiency within the energy sector.
The timely resolution of this issue is expected to facilitate the execution of critical energy projects, contributing to improved service delivery and the overall advancement of the sector.
