Prof Opoku-Agyemang slams Akufo-Addo for prioritising statue
During a recent campaign stop in the North East Region, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) vice presidential candidate, Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, criticized President Akufo-Addo for erecting a statue in Takoradi amid the country’s economic struggles. She highlighted the severe economic hardship faced by many Ghanaians, with rising prices of goods and services and high unemployment, particularly affecting women and youth.
Speaking to the Regent of Wungu, Sulemana Saka Adams, as part of her two-day campaign tour, Prof. Opoku-Agyemang emphasized the NDC’s commitment to addressing these challenges. She assured that if elected, the next NDC administration would implement policies aimed at job creation, economic empowerment, and national development. These policies include the 24-Hour Economy, the Big Push infrastructure initiative, the Women’s Development Bank, and a National Apprenticeship Programme.
Prof. Opoku-Agyemang encouraged Ghanaians to vote for the NDC’s presidential candidate, John Dramani Mahama, in the upcoming December 7 election, stressing that a vote for Mahama would provide an opportunity to reset the economy and ease the current hardships. She urged voters to support a change from the current government, which she argued has failed to alleviate the economic burdens faced by ordinary Ghanaians.
