One Direction stars mourn Liam Payne at funeral
Liam Payne, former One Direction star, was remembered at a private funeral service on Wednesday in Amersham, Buckinghamshire, following his tragic death at the age of 31. The funeral was attended by his family, friends, and former bandmates, including Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan, and Zayn Malik, as well as Payne’s girlfriend Kate Cassidy, his former partner Cheryl, and other close figures from his life.
The ceremony was marked by emotional tributes, with Payne’s coffin arriving at the church on a white horse-drawn hearse adorned with floral tributes spelling “son” and “daddy.” There were additional floral arrangements, including one shaped like bowling pins—a nod to Payne’s love of the sport.
In addition to his bandmates, Simon Cowell, his former label boss, was also present, offering support to the family. Notable figures such as presenters James Corden and Marvin Humes, along with former Girls Aloud bandmates Kimberley Walsh and Nicola Roberts, attended the service.
Payne’s untimely passing occurred on October 16 after a fall from the third floor of a hotel in Buenos Aires. An autopsy revealed that he suffered multiple injuries. Payne, who rose to fame through The X Factor in 2010, was one of the co-writers of One Direction’s biggest hits and had a successful solo career.
Payne is survived by his parents, two sisters, and his son, Bear, whom he shared with Cheryl. His family described him as a kind, funny, and brave soul, and his memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
