Chaos erupts at Asawase after Manaf Ibrahim refused to jump queue to vote

Tension at Akurem Polling Station as NDC Members Challenge NPP Candidate’s Presence

Tensions flared at the Akurem Junior High School polling station in the Asawase constituency when National Democratic Congress (NDC) members protested the presence of Manaf Ibrahim, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Parliamentary Candidate, as he queued to cast his vote.

Manaf Ibrahim, who arrived early at the polling station, declined the preferential treatment typically granted to candidates to bypass queues. Instead, he chose to wait in line, expressing a desire to experience the voting process as an ordinary citizen and foster a personal connection with his constituents.

This decision, while unusual, sparked objections from NDC members, resulting in a brief commotion at the polling station. Electoral officials and security personnel quickly intervened to restore calm, ensuring that voting could proceed without further disruptions.

Such incidents highlight the heightened tensions and competitive atmosphere in the lead-up to the December 7 general elections.
