Mahama has inherited a difficult economy but will overcome – Haruna Iddrisu

Haruna Iddrisu and President-elect Mahama Acknowledge Economic Challenges Facing Ghana
Former Minority Leader Haruna Iddrisu has highlighted the immense economic challenges awaiting President-elect John Dramani Mahama as he prepares to take office. Speaking to journalists on December 9 in Accra, the Tamale South MP emphasized that Mahama is inheriting a troubled economy, but expressed optimism about the President-elect’s capacity to overcome these obstacles.
“We cannot take the people for granted. Ghanaians have said, ‘If you fail us, we will reject you tomorrow.’ President Mahama has inherited a difficult economy, but I am confident he will weather the storm,” Iddrisu remarked.
Mahama, addressing the state of the nation’s finances, attributed the economic difficulties to the outgoing Akufo-Addo administration, accusing it of leaving the country in dire financial straits. He assured Ghanaians of his administration’s commitment to reforms and recovery.
“This journey will not be easy. The outgoing government has plunged the nation into an abyss, but we are determined to implement governance reforms and steer Ghana back on track,” Mahama stated.
Calling for unity, the President-elect stressed the importance of collective effort in rebuilding the nation, saying, “We must never forget the people of Ghana. The one we serve is Mother Ghana, and together, we will rebuild.”
As Mahama prepares to take office, his administration is expected to prioritize measures to stabilize the economy and address pressing national issues.
