Bagbin to meet Emeafa Hardcastle today over Annoh-Dompreh Confrontation

Speaker of Parliament Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin is set to meet with the Acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Petroleum Commission, Victoria Emeafa Hardcastle, today, January 30, following a heated exchange between her and Minority Chief Whip Frank Annoh-Dompreh.
The confrontation occurred during the vetting of Dr. Omane Boamah, the Defense Minister-designate, on January 28. The incident has stirred controversy within political and legislative circles, prompting Annoh-Dompreh to file a formal petition urging the Speaker to take “consequential actions” before establishing the Privileges Committee.
Describing the encounter as an “unprovoked attack” on his role as a legislator, Annoh-Dompreh has called for swift intervention to address the matter.
In response, Speaker Bagbin acknowledged the seriousness of the issue and assured Parliament that he would engage Ms. Hardcastle to hear her perspective before making any decisions regarding the Privileges Committee.
The meeting, which will take place behind closed doors, is expected to provide clarity on the incident and inform the Speaker’s next course of action in resolving the dispute.
