Evatex Logistics issues seven-day ultimatum to GACL over contract termination

Evatex Logistics Limited has given the Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL) a seven-day ultimatum to rescind its decision to terminate a revenue assurance contract, warning that failure to do so will result in legal action.

The demand was issued in a response dated Monday, July 28, 2025, through legal and management consultants, K-Archy, following a termination letter from GACL dated August 1. The termination notice, signed by GACL Managing Director Yvonne Nana Afriyie Opare, instructed Evatex to vacate the cargo section of Kotoka International Airport (KIA) by August 27, 2025.

GACL cited the lack of evidence of revenue recovery or concealment since Evatex began operations as justification for the termination. However, Evatex dismissed the claims as “unjustified, unreasonable, and executed in bad faith.”

“Our client considers the intention to terminate the said contract as actuated by bad faith and unreasonableness… and shall institute legal action to recover the capital investments and seek other reliefs,” the company stated.

Evatex claims to have already submitted operational reports and made capital investments amounting to US$64.6 million in custom-built infrastructure for GACL. It is demanding the withdrawal of the termination letter within seven days to avoid a court battle.

This development comes amid an ongoing investigation by the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP), which is probing the contract over suspected procurement breaches. The contract has been linked to Strategic Mobilisation Ghana Limited (SML)—a firm previously embroiled in controversy over revenue assurance deals involving the Ministry of Finance and Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA).

Former GACL Board Chair Paul Adom-Otchere was recently detained by the OSP on July 31, 2025, in connection with the matter.
