Adom-Otchere Raises Alarm Over OSP Invitation, Alleges Political Motive Behind Summons

Broadcaster and former Board Chairman of the Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL), Paul Adom-Otchere, has raised serious concerns over an invitation from the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP), suggesting it may be a politically motivated attempt to detain him in retaliation for his recent public criticisms of the institution and its head, Kissi Agyebeng.
In a Facebook video posted on Thursday, July 31, Adom-Otchere disclosed that he has received warnings from multiple sources that the OSP plans to detain him over the weekend.
“Everybody is telling me that Kissi wants to arrest you and keep you there for the weekend to teach you a lesson, because you’ve been talking about him,” he claimed. “If that’s what he uses state authority for, it’s up to him.”
The OSP officially invited Adom-Otchere for questioning over his alleged involvement in a corruption-related investigation involving a revenue assurance audit contract between the GACL and EvaTex Logistics Limited. In a letter dated July 25, 2025, the OSP identified him as a suspect and instructed him to report to its office on Thursday, July 31 at 3:00 p.m.
Although his lawyers from Akufo-Addo, Prempeh & Co. requested a rescheduling to Monday, August 4 due to court obligations, the OSP declined.
“Failure to appear as directed may amount to obstruction or non-cooperation,” the OSP warned, adding it could trigger “appropriate legal action, including compulsion measures.”
Adom-Otchere has questioned the motive behind the OSP’s refusal to grant the extension, saying it appears designed to detain him.
“Every lawyer is telling me… they want you to come at 3 o’clock, and then they will detain you. They may arrest you. They will say, go and bring this. They will say bail,” he warned.
He clarified that the EvaTex contract was executed after his tenure as Board Chairman had ended, and that his role had been limited to advising management not to commit GACL funds to any audit.
“We said clearly that the Ghana Airports Company cannot pay you any money at all to do this work,” he recalled, adding that any contractual dealings with EvaTex occurred later, under the purview of company management.
According to Adom-Otchere, the proposal from EvaTex—which originally requested 20% of revenue it helped identify—was reduced by the board to 16%, and the board instructed management to follow due procurement processes.
He also took issue with what he described as media leaks orchestrated by the OSP to create public distrust.
“They sent us the letter and quickly leaked it to the media. This is what the Special Prosecutor does—leak to the media to create the impression that you have done something wrong,” he alleged.
Despite what he believes is a targeted campaign against him, Adom-Otchere said he will comply with the OSP’s directive and attend the meeting with his lawyer.
“We are going there with my lawyer, and we’ll be there to answer the questions. I’ll let you know what happens,” he stated.
The OSP has not publicly responded to Mr. Adom-Otchere’s allegations.
