Bernard Bediako Baidoo thanks Akwatia voters after decisive NDC victory

The Member of Parliament-elect for Akwatia, Bernard Bediako Baidoo, has expressed deep gratitude to his constituents, crediting his win to the trust voters placed in the National Democratic Congress’ (NDC) message.

Bediako, who dedicated the victory to God, said the outcome was the result of hard work and consistent engagement with the people.

Official results from the Electoral Commission on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, confirmed his victory with 18,199 votes out of 33,819 valid ballots cast. His closest rival, Solomon Kwame Asumadu of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), polled 15,235 votes, while Owusu Patrick of the Liberal Progressive Party (LPP) secured 82 votes. A total of 303 ballots were rejected.

Speaking to journalists after the declaration, Bediako reflected on the journey:

“Ebenezer, this is how far the good Lord has brought us. The confidence has always been there, not just out of nothing, but because of the work we have done. After engaging the people, we saw their positive response to our message, and today, that has translated into this victory.”

The Akwatia by-election was held following the death of the constituency’s former MP, Ernest Kumi, earlier this year. The campaign period witnessed intense competition, with both the NDC and NPP committing significant resources and manpower.
