SYNLAB Ghana Denies Media Claims Over HIV Test Lawsuit, Reaffirms Commitment to Diagnostic Integrity

Accra, July 1, 2025 — SYNLAB Ghana has formally responded to media reports concerning a GHC10 million lawsuit filed by a female client who alleges she lost her job and suffered public stigma following an inaccurate HIV test result issued by the diagnostic firm.

In a statement released Tuesday, the company acknowledged the pending court case but firmly rejected the media narrative, describing the circulating reports as “inaccurate, misleading, and prejudicial.”

“While we respect the individual’s right to seek legal redress, we strongly reject the narrative being propagated in the media,” SYNLAB Ghana stated.

Legal Action Underway

SYNLAB confirmed it has engaged legal counsel and filed a statement of defence, denying all allegations in the lawsuit. The company stressed that it is cooperating fully with the court and committed to due process.

“The publication in question is not only unbalanced but also contains factual inaccuracies that we are addressing through the appropriate legal channels,” the statement read.

Rigorous Standards and Quality Assurance

In response to questions about the reliability of its testing processes, SYNLAB Ghana highlighted its adherence to strict international and local standards, including certifications from the Health Facilities Regulatory Agency (HeFRA) and ISO 15189:2022 accreditation by DAkkS (Germany).

“Our laboratory follows robust internal and external quality controls to ensure the highest standards of accuracy, integrity, and confidentiality in all diagnostic services, including HIV testing,” the company assured.

Caution to Media and Public

The diagnostic firm urged media houses and the public to avoid spreading unverified information, warning that such narratives could mislead the public and compromise legal proceedings.

Reaffirmation of Trust

Despite the ongoing legal case, SYNLAB reaffirmed that the matter does not compromise the quality of its services.

“SYNLAB Ghana remains a trusted provider of diagnostic excellence, and this matter in no way affects the quality, accuracy, or reliability of our services,” the statement concluded.
