Asantehene to Meet Kusaug Traditional Council in Renewed Push for Bawku Peace

The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, is set to hold a critical peace-building meeting with the Kusaug Traditional Council on Monday, June 30, 2025, as part of intensified efforts to restore lasting peace to the troubled town of Bawku.

The development was announced in a press release from the Manhyia Palace on Sunday, underscoring Otumfuo’s enduring commitment to resolving the long-standing ethnic and chieftaincy-related conflict in the Upper East Region.

“His Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Asantehene, will meet with the Kusaug Traditional Council on Monday, 30th June 2025,” the statement confirmed.

The Palace called on all parties involved in the Bawku conflict to fully support the ongoing peace process and commit to dialogue over violence.

“Asantehene requests all stakeholders to cooperate so that we can find lasting peace in Bawku,” the statement appealed.

The Manhyia Palace reaffirmed its determination to not only mediate a truce but also ensure sustainable peace through open dialogue and collaboration among all traditional and community stakeholders.

Otumfuo’s involvement adds renewed hope to the peace process, as the revered monarch is widely respected for his conflict resolution efforts across the country.
